The 45-minute offset, and why a phone makes it worse
Every trading platform stamps candles in server time. Nepal Time is UTC+5:45 — one of the few offsets in the world that is neither a whole nor a half hour — so the gap between the chart clock and the phone clock is 45 minutes away from any round number. On a desktop with two clocks on screen that is a footnote. On an iPhone, where most of the reading happens on a small chart glanced at between other things, it is the difference between looking at the candle that is forming and the candle that already closed.
The fix costs a minute. Open a daily chart, note where the platform draws the day boundary, and write that offset down. From then on every alert, every session note and every screenshot is read through the same number. Traders who skip it tend to discover the gap during a fast hour, which is the worst possible moment to be doing arithmetic on a phone.
The same offset explains why a calendar entry timed at 12:30 GMT is not 18:00 in Kathmandu but 18:15. Rounding it to the nearest hour is the single most common reason a reaction is missed on mobile.
Alerts, Focus modes and a session that runs past midnight
The Asian hours sit comfortably inside a Kathmandu working day and the European open lands in the early afternoon, but the North American session runs deep into the night — which is exactly where iOS starts having opinions. A Focus mode or a Sleep schedule will silence a price alert with no warning at all, and Low Power Mode throttles background refresh, so a push can arrive minutes after the level was touched.
Before trusting alerts overnight, allow the app to send Time Sensitive notifications and add it to the exception list of every Focus mode active after early evening. Then test it once with an alert set a few pips away from the current price, with the screen locked. An untested alert is not an alert.
Battery planning matters more than it sounds. A phone left on a live chart with a short refresh interval drains quickly, and an overnight watch is better handled plugged in with the screen asleep — the alert does not need the chart to be visible to fire.
When the App Store search comes back empty
A blank search result on an iPhone is almost never a broken app. The App Store serves listings by the storefront tied to the Apple ID, not by the SIM card and not by the network the phone is on. If a search by app name returns nothing, check which storefront the Apple ID is set to before trying anything else.
The second common cause is an older device. The app needs iOS 16 or later, and an iPhone left on an earlier release will simply not be offered a compatible listing. On such a device the browser-based terminal is the practical fallback, and it installs nothing.
One route is worth refusing outright: an installer file arriving by message or from a link. iOS has no sideloading, so a file offered outside the App Store is not the app, whatever the file is named.
Ten minutes of setup that pays for itself

- Open a daily chart and note the gap between the platform clock and the phone clock. Write the number down.
- Set one price alert a few pips from the market and confirm it arrives with the screen locked.
